I remember sitting at my kitchen table, a mountain of mismatched crayons in front of me. I wondered if I could actually teach my child to read. If you've ever felt that "am I doing enough?" knot in your stomach, take a deep breath. You are exactly who your child needs.

Our Ready-to-Learn Letters Program

Our Ready-to-Learn Letters program wasn't born in a corporate office. It was born from that same kitchen-table passion to make kindergarten homeschool feel less like a chore and more like a joy.

To the parent currently surrounded by alphabet flashcards and a lukewarm cup of coffee: you're doing an incredible job! Homeschooling is a marathon, not a sprint. Sometimes we all need a little help to cross the finish line.

From the first 'A' in Unit 1 to the final 'Z' mastery, our kindergarten homeschool reading program is designed by a parent, for parents. We know exactly what our children need.

The Joy of Teaching Reading

Teaching your child to read is one of the most rewarding parts of the kindergarten homeschool experience. Whether you're just starting to explore Unit 1 or looking for fresh ways to keep the momentum going, I've been there.

One of my goals with the Ready-to-Learn Letters program is to give you back your time. Focus on the 'aha!' moments instead of the prep work.

I know exactly what it's like to balance the "to-do" list with the "to-teach" list. That is why I designed this program to be as flexible as it is fun.

  • Free Online Lessons We offer 31 comprehensive units that cover the entire alphabet.

  • Interactive Learning: Each lesson includes Free Alphabet Games (mobile and desktop) and stories to keep your little ones engaged.

  • Support for You: Join our mailing list, and I will send you weekly encouragement. I've been there, and I understand.

Our Ready-to-Learn Letters tools can be used on their own or as a companion to any kindergarten alphabet instruction. Just mix and match as needed to support your child's learning journey.

Embracing the Homeschooling Experience

One of my favorite things about homeschooling my children is this: I am the teacher. I have the amazing opportunity to choose the approach that works best for each one of my children. And so do you!

There is no one better equipped to teach your child than you.

Learning Made Easy uses a 3-part, 8-step phonics system.

Part 1: Ready-to-Learn Letters (The Phonics Foundation)

Step 1 is where confident reading begins. In Ready-to-Learn Letters, children build the "must-have" skills that make every later phonics step easier: recognizing letters, saying the correct sound, and writing letters correctly. When these three skills become automatic, children are ready to blend, read, and spell with far less frustration.

Mastery Criteria (three core skills):

  • Letter Recognition

  • Sound Production

  • Letter Formation

Step 1 builds the skills that matter most. Instead of rushing into words, children get a solid foundation. When blending begins in Step 2, they feel ready, capable, and proud.

Step 1 isn't "just the alphabet." It's the start of reading confidence!

Your student should be able to recognize all letters of the alphabet and all initial letter sounds before moving on to our next stage: the Reading Made Easy program. This upcoming series builds on the skills learned here. The next levels transition children from recognizing letters to confidently reading their first books.

Reading Made Easy Levels 1 & 2 are designed to follow naturally after the Ready-to-Learn Letters Program. They guide children from letter mastery to reading and decoding more complex words and stories.

The Ups and Downs of Homeschooling

Homeschooling is not always easy. Some days are for deep dives into phonics, while other days are for online games and extra cuddles. If you're having a day where the printer just won't cooperate, don't forget that we have offline workbooks and readers available. They keep the learning going without the tech stress.

You're doing an incredible job! Let's make this year one where your child doesn't just learn to read, but learns to love to learn.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is the best way to start teaching the alphabet at home?

Starting with a structured yet flexible program like Ready-to-Learn Letters is ideal. Focus on one letter at a time, emphasizing letter recognition, the correct sound, and proper formation. This "foundation first" approach prevents frustration when children begin blending words later on.

How do I know if my child is ready for the "Reading Made Easy" level?

Before moving to Reading Made Easy, your student should confidently recognize all letters of the alphabet and produce their initial sounds. Mastery of these Step 1 skills ensures they are ready to transition from letters to decoding full stories.

Do I need to print everything to use this program?

Not at all! While we offer Free Letter A Worksheets, we also have [Free Alphabet Games] for mobile and desktop. Also our FREE Ready-to-Learn Letters program naturally incorporates songs and letter stories. If you prefer a screen-free experience or want to skip the printing, you can visit our store for offline workbooks and skill builders.

What if my child has a short attention span?

Our program is designed to be "as flexible as it is fun". On days when a deep dive into phonics feels like too much, you can pivot to interactive online games or extra cuddles while reading together. The goal is to foster a love for learning, not just to check off a to-do list.

Are there low-prep or free options for starting a kindergarten homeschool curriculum?

Absolutely! We believe that a high-quality kindergarten homeschool education should be accessible to everyone. You can start right now with our FREE Ready-to-Learn Letters Program . These resources are designed to be "grab-and-go," meaning you can begin teaching foundational phonics skills today without spending hours on preparation or a large budget on supplies.
